The journal Sacra Militia presents a number of articles that continue to enhance our knowledge about the life and time of the Order of St John both in Malta and abroad. It is the hope of the editorial board that the journal will continue to offer to its numerous readers new material which they find interesting and enlightening. This is the mission of the Sacra Militia Foundation. It is aimed that through research that the SMOM becomes more understood and appreciated.

An appeal is being made to serious researchers to submit articles based on reliable sources, which demonstrate the in-depth analysis on the various aspects of the Order’s history and the times in which the knights were a dominant or influential entity in the life of the Mediterranean and of Europe. It is the pleasure of the editor to receive articles from researchers for consideration. Our objective is the studying and carrying out of research into the military, naval, hospitaller and other aspects pertaining to the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta from the date of its foundation. Sacra Militia Foundation does this by publishing relevant materials, organising events, public lectures and producing educational material. Any member will receive the yearly journal and have exclusive access to any other published material as well as participate or contribute to lectures organized throughout the year.
